To simplify 5/10, we must find a number than we can divide both the numerator and denominator into cleaning (as in, no remainders, decimals, etc.) In this case, both 5 and 10, can be divided by 5, leaving us with
1/2
So, 5.5 in simplified fraction form becomes 5 and 1/2, or 5-and-a-half.
