It is probably going a bit far to say that eviction causes mental illness, but it can definitely lead to untreated mental illness. Often, mental illness is gauged or diagnosed based on whether it inhibits function on a day to day basis. You could argue that eviction might be an indicator that the mental illness has begun to interfere with a person's ability to function, but it is also true that eviction is not always caused by the person who is being evicted, and many times, people are forced out of their homes through no fault of their own. In summary, it is hard to say what general connection between eviction and mental health issues might be, but it is easy to see that people suffering from mental health issues would continue to suffer (and perhaps more intensely) after being evicted.

“Evictions fallout is severe. Losing a home sends families to shelters, abandoned houses, and the street. It invites depression and illness, compels families to move into degrading housing in dangerous neighbourhoods ,uproots communities, and harms children. Eviction reveals people's vulnerability and desperation,as well as their ingenuity and guts”. what is your view on how evictions can cause mental illness on individuals.
