The Hunt family is attending a family reunion. They plan to rent a car from the ABC Car Rental Company. Let m represent the number of miles the family will drive. Let c represent the cost for renting a car. Write an equation that shows what the cost for renting a car will be

Let the rental cost = R
let m be the number of miles driven= m
let c be the cost per mile
Let C be the total cost of renting;
Then C = R+mc
If R =$20 ( the rental cost)
and c = $40 ( the cost per mile)
The total cost is C = $20+$40m
Ex:
if m is known assume m=10 miles
Then the total cost C = $20+($40/mile)(10miles)
then C = $20+$400=$420
