1) A linear function is determined by the formula y=mx+b. This would be a linear function
2) Quadratic equations always have the x raised to a power of 2 - anything with x2 is a quadratic function!
3) Exponential functions are anything that is growing exponentially, usually indicated by the xx in the equation.
4) the two lines on either side of the equation are absolute value bars. They always give a positive answer and can never be negative.
