How would you use Math or Science to change the world?

Imagine you had to change the world and make it a better place. How would you incorporate math or science to make it a better place?

I think it would be timely to discuss using science to study and/or (your choice) combat the dangerous effects of climate change. If this is to be a research paper, you would have no end of source material, and if it were an opinion piece, you probably have seen, heard, and read enough to discuss it intelligently. Focus on one area, such as the polar ice caps, the mega-storms of recent years, the extinction of species, or regional pockets of starvation due to drought.
