This is just common sense.  You cannot be texting and paying attention to the road at the same time.  A short span of inattention, even a few seconds, can lead to a serious or fatal accident.  This has happened numerous times.

If you're young and are only ever a passenger in an automobile, you still ought to be able to think about safety, avoidance of distraction, prevention of accident or death.
