Write an equation that models the total cost y (in dollars) for one large pizza and any number of drinks x. Use the equation to estimate the cost of one large pizza and 8 small drinks for you and your friends. Please help this will determine my grade!

Let x = the cost of one large pizza

Let y = the cost of one small drink

   3x + y = 21.96

-(6x + y = 27.93)

 -3x        = -5.97

           x = $1.99

 

3(1.99) + y = 21.96

5.97 + y = 21.96

y = $15.99

 

So, 1 large pizza and 8 small drinks would cost  15.99 + 8(1.99) = $31.91
