There is a LOT that could be included in this answer, but here is the "simple" answer: The Civil War affected Texas by separating it from the Union when it joined the Confederacy. Many men left to fight, which hurt farms and the economy back home. There were also shortages of goods because trade was limited. By the end of the war, Texas had to rejoin the United States and go through major changes during Reconstruction.
