Multiplying and Dividing Monomials

The smallest species of sea cucumbers are about 10 Millimeters long.  The larges sea cucumbers are more than 10 to the second power times longer than the smallest sea cucumbers.  What is the approximate length of the largest sea cucumber.

10^2 = 10 x 10 = 100

 

So the smallest is 10 mm and the largest is 100 times as big, hence 10 x 100 = 1000.

If the largest sea cucumbers are MORE THAN 10^2 (100) times longer than the smallest sea cucumbers (10), you have to multiply 10x100, which equals 1000.  So the approx. length of the largest sea cucumber is at least 1000 mm.
