Based on my knowledge in recent science, and reading a few articles, like this one:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-people-oppose-gmos-even-though-science-says-they-are-safe/
It's pretty clear that scientists are leaning towards accepting GMOs as safe because there isn't any evidence of them doing any harm. The idea that is a GMO is made by genetically modifying organisms just like a mutation in nature would, but in our case, we're picking which direction we want the mutation to go, like corn that requires less water to grow.
When natural selection favors a certain mutation, the mutated gene is passed on to the offspring and spread throughout the population. In the case of GMOs, we're that force of natural selection, creating specific mutations (using things like CRSPR-Cas9 technology. Google it, super cool) similar to what happens all the time in nature, but directed, and we reap a benefit from the modification.
Based on this, what do you think the answer is?
