Which of the following is not true regarding the formation of a dipeptide? Check my answer?
a. a water molecule is produced
b. two amino acids are joined together
c. a double bond forms between carbon and nitrogen
d. a protein is formed

I've eliminated a & b, but c and d have me confused. I read that peptide bonds have 'partial' double bond charateristics. But I also think that I would go with d because proteins are formed from polypeptides, not dipeptides? Is my thinking correct? Or is a dipeptide considered a protein?

Amino acids join together for dipeptide formation. Therefore, b is true. 

 

Dipeptide is  still considered as a simple protein.  Therefore, d is true. 

 

A water molecular may form during dipeptide formation depending on oxygen availability. Therefore, a is true.

 

Carbon and nitrogen pair by a single bond and not double bonds and therefore, c is not true.
