The short answer is "yes." But I'm going to explain a little bit so you can understand why.
A threshold concept is some idea, perspective, or additonal date that completely changes the way you think about something. It's used often in creative writing, but it exists in non-fiction writing as well. They are considered transformative, in that they change you once you understand them. They cause someone to take an entirely different stance on an issue. They are often irreversible. Because of how powerfully they impact understanding, they are very difficult concepts to unlearn and it's nearly impossible to adopt the perspective you had before you were introduced to the concept. Because of this permanence, they can cause problems. We need to constantly be open to new ways of thinking but some people can become so focused on the threshold concept that they have trouble continuing to adapt their perspective.
It's important to keep in mind that what constitutes a threshold concept for one person may not be a threshold concept for another.
