2x + 4y =8

substitute 0 for x

2 (0) + 4y = 8

0 +4y = 8

subtract 0 from both sides

-0 +4y =8 - 0

4y = 8

Divide both sides by 4

Y = 2

To find the coordinates of the y intercept of any equation, you need to get it in the foll. form

y= mx + c where C is the y intercept amd m is the slope. So for this equation,

2x+4y = 8

4y= 8 - 2x

y= 8/4-2/4x

y=2-1/2x. So m=- 1/2 and y= 2.

Now when we substitute the value of x =0 ( because on y axis all values of x are 0) in the eqaution -

y= 2-1/2x 0

y = 2- 0= 2.

Therefore, the coordinates of the y intercept of 2x+4y= 8 are (0, 2)

We first need to convert this equation to y= form.

2x+4y=8. Subtract 2x from each side.

4y=8-2x. Divide both sides by 4.

y=2-1/2x. Rearranging the equation we get:

y=-1/2x+2

The coefficient of x (-1/2) is the slope of the line and 2 is the y intercept.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Y intercept is the point where the line passing through, therefore it happens when x =0.

X intercept is the point where the line passing through, therefore it happens when y=0.

So, if you want to obtain Y intercept let x =0, then you will get 4y = 8 and y = 2.

If you want to obtain X intercept let y =0, then you will get 2x = 8 and x = 4.

If you want to change the equation to general form of linear equation,

y = (-1/2)x + 2

You can find y interception with this equation but previous explain is quicker.

Good luck.
