Hey Harleen,
I'm not sure what subject you're going to be writing this for, but it sounds like the assignment has a lot of possibilities.
My first piece of advice would be to define, and truly understand what a stereotype is. You need to demonstrate that in the first paragraph of the essay.
The assignment also calls for you to think of a specific example of a stereotype. The way I would go about this, is to start brainstorming examples of your commonly held beliefs about people, places, events. Once you have a list of topics really start to think about if those beliefs are unquestionably true. Your teacher basically wants you to challenge a belief about something and give examples of how that belief influences people and communities. It's a general overview, but I'm more than happy to brainstorm with you and help structure your paper.
But keep in mind, the list that your teacher gave-that's going to be the organization of the paper.
