Hi Nicole, the standard form of a line is Ax + By = C. To convert y - 3 = 3 * (x + 1), you have to get the x and y terms on the same side of the equation.
Note: A, B, and C are integers, and normally A is positive.
Process:
y - 3 = 3 * (x + 1)
Clear the parenthesis:
y - 3 = 3x + 3
Subtract 3x from both sides:
-3x + y - 3 = 3
Add 3 to both sides:
-3x + y = 6
Multiply all terms by -1:
3x - y = -6
