Hi Tyree,
On 28 June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne was shot dead in Sarajevo. The six assassins were five Serbs and one Bosniak. The assassination led to World War I. (As a result of the assassination, Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to the Kingdom of Serbia. Serbia's subsequently rejection of the ultimatum caused Austria-Hungary to declare war.)
Best,
Star
