square root of 77/10 in estimated fraction form

 I don't know how to take the answer of 2.77 and find the fraction of 14/5

if you begin with 2.8, then it seems to me that the best thing is to write this as 28 / 10.  Since both numerator & denominator are even, divide each part by 2, and you get 14 / 5.

First, round off the answer to 2.8. Now, we look for a number to multiply 2.8, which gives an integer. 1, 2, 3, and 4 don't work, but 5 does.

 

2.8×5 = 14

 

therefore

 

2.8 = 14/5

 

which is the answer.
