I bought 2 1/2 gallons of paint but I only used 2/4 gallons of the paint. How much paint do not have left

I agree with Mark. 2/4 gallon equals 1/2 gallon. So you still have 2 gallons left.

              We have   2  1/2       and 2/4   -----> Notice that 2/4  can be reduced to  1/2

 

             So we have   2  1/2    minus   1/2 ---->  Notice the  1/2 on the 2  1/2   side...

 

                  =     2  1/2   minus  1/2    = 2   ---->  Answer
