Let's Work Together For Your Success
Hey Michael --
If you use a source text as it is, you are basically copying (if you give credit to the author) or you are plagiarizing (if you don't give credit to the author).
However, if you interpret the source work, you are adding your understanding to it, hopefully giving it some dimension and depth because you have looked further into and shared what you found.
For example, one of my friends loves the band "Imagine Dragons." He gets great satisfaction out of explaining to me what their songs really mean -- What the symbols represent, what life incidents led the writer to compose the song, how certain themes are repeated. As a result, I started to like the band a lot more, too.
Another example is when you watch a movie or TV show the second time, you get more out of it because you understand the characters and the content better and you can go deeper into the story and the creation of the film.
These are probably not the "academic" answers your test is calling for, but think along those lines and I hope you will come up with a terrific answer.
Let me know if you need more help.
