Let the cost of an adult ticket be x and y be the cost of a child's ticket now using this I'm going to form two equations
5x + y = 31.30
2x + 3y = 19.80
Multiply the top equation by -3
-15x - 3y = -93.90
Now add this to equation 2
-13 x = -74.10
x = 5.7
So the cost of an adult ticket is $5.70
Substitute this value for x in the first equation
(5.70)5 + y = 31.30
Y = 31.30 - 28.50
y = 2.80
The cost of a child ticket is $2.80
