For the other problem, we can use the formula x = vot + 1/2at2, where x = distance, a = accel., and t = time, so 200 = 10t +1/2(2)t2 or 200 = 10t + t2
Rearranging, we get: t2 + 10t - 200 = 0
This factors into (t + 20)(t - 10) = 0
So t = 10 (or -20, which is not a sensible solution)
