A 25 kg mass is lowered by a rope. If the velocity of the mass is decreasing at a rate of 5 m/s^2, what is the tension in the rope?
I did
T = mg - ma
and got my answer as 125N.
The answer key says its 375N.
Why do I do T = mg + ma if the mass is being lowered?
