Add 2 to both sides to get:  3b + b/2 = 182.

 

 

Get a common denominator to add up the b's  (Multiply 3b by 2/2 to get 6b/2)

3b + b/2 = 6b/2 + b/2 = 7b / 2.

 

So.. 

7b/2 = 182

 

Now multiply both sides by 2:

 ->  7b = 364

 

Then Divide both sides by 7:

 ->  b = 52

6b/2 + b/2 - 2 = 180

 

7b/2 = 182
