If the first three terms of a geometric sequence are 8, 12, and 2x-4, then what is the value of x?

I am thinking that the common ratio is 3/2, so the next  term has to be equal to 18, making 2x-4=18, making x = 11. correct?

a sequence is given by the recursive definition: a (sub1)=7 and a (sub n)=a(sub n-1) (2)^n

state the fourth term of this sequence.  I am expected to show how I arrived at my answer.

for some value of x the sequence 2x+1, x+11, 4x+5 forms the first three terms of an arithmetic sequence.

I am expected to show the work to find: a) find the value of x. b) determine the numerical value of the 15th term of this sequence. c) find the sum of the first 30 terms of this sequence. show... more
