Here's a simple solution.
If you have a friend in college, they have access to the college library online which allows them to get much better quality research than you can get via your internet searches or spending a lot of time at the library. If you don't, then try going to a decent university nearby (not a community college) go to the library, and just ask a student to email you the articles about the topic you want to write about.
Normally high school research papers don't demand too many resources, and in college, these types of assignments are laughable. In any case, if you are too uncomfortable with going the public route (going to a university and asking for access to the online university library to get peer-reviewed studies, and/or articles from well-known publishing companies, e.g., Nature. Another route is scholar.google.com.
If you've done a lot of research, and you are dissatisfied and you are stuck, learn grounding techniques or ways in which you can calm yourself, if even after that you hate the subject matter, there is bound to be a similar topic among the research you've done. Collect a few more articles, and you won't have any issue.
The difficulty of a research paper is the fear of the research paper. It is simply writing about a topic but quoting the authorities on the subject, such as for Perceived Organizational Support, you would probably quote Dr. Eisenberger (when he was alive, he often had to cite himself in his own writings). For bilingualism's effects on the brain or fMRI studies, one might quote Bialystok for example. It is simply, finding who are the important figures in these subjects, or simply finding studies that match your material, and quoting them so long as they are peer-reviewed.
Formatting should be done relative to your teacher's requirements, if it's MLA (they tend to be so particular about this,, but university tends to be the opposite), once you go to college you will NEVER use it (MLA) again (even in English courses). But, go ahead and follow your teacher's instructions. If it is APA, then congratulations, you will most likely use this in every course, and even if there are incongruencies, your TA's or professors will probably not mind.
