Just remember the acronym DiRT which can mean Di = R•T (aka D = RT) or Distance equals Rate multiplied by Time
BTW, "Rate" is velocity or speed.
Examples:
To find the distance traveled if you are going 50 miles per hour for 2 hours:
D = (50)*2 = 100 miles
To find the time it takes to travel 100 miles when traveling 50 miles per hour:
100 = 50•T (now divide both sides by 50 to get:
T = 2 hours
To find the speed (average speed) to travel 100 miles in 2 hours:
100 = R•2 (now divide both sides by 2 to get:
R = 50 miles per hour
