1. After the French and Indian War, the British and Native Americans grew resentful of each other, as Native Americans opposed British advancement's on their lands and traditions, while the British saw them as obstacles to expansion. 2. Pontiac, an Ottawa leader, united tribes and used guerrilla tactics to attack British forts and settlements. 3. The British responded with military force and diplomacy, eventually negotiating peace and issuing the Proclamation of 1763 to limit colonial expansion westward.
