Listening is the counterpart of speaking. Since you began learning the language you have already worked on this ability. But as the level increases many students find it difficult to catch up with the speed or difficulty of the listening exercises during class.
Here are some tips:
- While watching videos, movies, programs set the subtitle function in the same language and listen while reading. If it is something that you already watched, watch it again with the subtitles.
- Do active listening. Active listening is to really pay attention on what it is being said, not analyzing. Just listen, do not think about what you are listening.
- Take any opportunity to practice your listening. This is a skill that you can do even in the supermarket when a song is being played. You do not need to sit down to practice this skill.
