A dilation is a transformation in which a figure is made larger or smaller. The original figure and the dilation are similar which means the ratio of the sides lengths are proportional. To dilate a figure with respect to the origin, you need to multiply the coordinates by the scale factor. If the scale factor is less than 1 but greater than 0, the dilation is a reduction. If the scale factor is greater than 1, the dilation is an enlargement.
If the point is (-4,0) and the scale factor is 1/4 then we multiply the x coordinate and the y coordinate by 1/4.
-4 * 1/4 = -1
0 * 1/4 = 0
The answer is (-1,0).
