Traveling from Albion to David City,you first pass through Benson and then Chapman before reaching David City, a total distance 670 miles. From Benson to Chapmsn is 70 miles farther than from Albion to Benson, and also 25 miles farther than from Chapmanto David City. How far is it from Chapman to David City?

Albion to Benson is x miles

Benson to Chapman is x+70 miles

Finally, Benson to Chapman is 25 miles farther than from Chapman to David City

This means Chapman to David City is 25 miles less than Benson to Chapman

Benson to Chapman is x+70 miles, and 25 miles less would be (x+70)-25, or x+45

Chapman to David City is x+45 miles

add the distances and this equals 670 miles

x+(x+70)+(x+45)=670

3x+115=670

3x=670-115

3x=555

x=555/3

x=185 miles (Albion to Benson)

x+70=185+70=225 miles (Benson to Chapman)

x+45=185+45=230 miles (Chapman to David City) (answer)
