There are several ways to teach a step by step cartooning method. Typically it's what you might see in drawing tutorials, where they lay out for you all the steps as instructions to follow until you've achieved the final result. Another method would be by drawing together. I other words, the student follows along with every step I'd take in order to converse about the topic at hand and even ask questions while working. A third method, would be by watching video tutorials from online platforms such as YouTube, where the audience can work at their own pace and scrub back & forth through video instructions as the instructor demonstrates/elaborates the project being illustrated and the viewer will attempt to either follow along or attempt the materials explained after watching the video.
I offer working hands on with students utilizing mainly the 1st two methods during online sessions and the 3rd method for when they wish to also work on their own between sessions. So I'll reference a video relevant to the topic we covered that they can follow and then they can follow up with me for further questions/clarifications in case they become stuck while working on their own.
