What are these letters doing in my equations? Here comes algebra!
Courtney, you haven't really asked a question here. Are you trying to figure out a percentage? A fraction?
Here's some basic information about those numbers:
4 out of 8 = 1/2 (think about a pizza cut in 8 slices--if you eat 4 slices, you've eaten half the pizza)
4 out of 8 also equals 50 percent. (If you ate all 8 slices, that's 100 percent, so half of 100 is 50 percent.)
So, depending on what your actual question was, one or the other of the above facts might help you.
