If you are solving this problem using derivatives it is done as follows:
The ball will reach its maximum when the derivative of the funciton equals 0
h = -16t2 +24t +7
dh/dt = -32t + 24 (this is the derivative and we will set this equal to 0
0 = -32t + 24
32t = 24
t = 3/4 (so the ball will reach its maximum after 3/4 of a second
the height at that point will be 16 ft
