A team of students hypothesizes that the amount of alcohol produced in fermentation depends on the amount of sugar supplied to the yeast. They want to use 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 % sugar solutions. They propose to run each experiment at 40 degree centigrade with 5 ml of yeast. What type of graph is appropriate for presenting these data?

For this experiment, you need to consider that the fermentation reaction takes time to go into completion.

In other words, you would be observing the alcohol concentrations over time until it reaches its maximum alcohol concentration.

Therefore, the best graph to represent this would be a line graph. The x-axis would be time, the y-axis would be the alcohol content, and each line graphed would be labelled to the corresponding sugar solutions (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 % ).
