Ramie can be washed, dried, and ironed without deteriorating. Ramie is a natural fiber that comes from the stem of a plant of the nettle family. It's known for being strong, durable and resistant to shrinking, wrinkling and fading. It is also resistant to bacteria, mildew and insects. Ramie fibers are often blended with other fibers like cotton or linen to make fabric which is strong and wrinkle-free. Jute and cotton fibers are less resistant to heat and mechanical action. They may shrink, wrinkle and lose their shape after being washed, dried, and ironed.
