2 : 32 :: 7 : w
2w = (32)(7)
Can you sovle for w and answer?
Hi Katelyn,
You could also use a table/double number line approach.
Cases Pounds
2 32
4 64
6 96
8 128
Now, 7 cases is not in the table. But, if you fill in the gaps in between 2, 4, 6, and 8 cases and their related poundage you can determine the number of pounds in 7 cases. It will also give you a good notion of how the pounds increase as the cases increase.

First determine what one case weighs.
Then multiply that by 7.

The first thing we need to do is figure out how much one case weighs. If 2 cases is 32 pounds we can write that as 2C=32 (C stands for cases.) We divide both side of the equation by 2 so 2C/2 = 32/2 - this gives us C=16. Now we know that one case equals 16 pounds. The last step is to multiply by 7. 16x7 = 112. So our answer is 112 pounds.01/14/23
