Word Problem help

Two cases of cans way 32 pounds. How much do 7 cases weigh?

Lauren W.

The first thing we need to do is figure out how much one case weighs. If 2 cases is 32 pounds we can write that as 2C=32 (C stands for cases.) We divide both side of the equation by 2 so 2C/2 = 32/2 - this gives us C=16. Now we know that one case equals 16 pounds. The last step is to multiply by 7. 16x7 = 112. So our answer is 112 pounds.

No need to determine unit value. Use proportions.
