There are many different ways you can approach this question. This is fundamentally a VALUE question - that is, it is based on what you as an individual think is important. The thing to do here is to make a logical argument according to those personal values. So first, what are your values?
Second, you might need to consider: What does religion do for people? What does it do for society? You could even go further and ask: What does religion do for God? Or what does religion do for the Earth? Whatever your answers here, are these benefits or functions of religion increased or decreased in a new versus an ancient religion?
And then third: What are the dangers or problems of religion? Are these dangers increased or decreased in a newly formed religion compared to an ancient one?
If you answer these questions - and bring the answers back home to the VALUES you’ve established - then you will have made an interesting and logical argument. Maybe even one that you personally believe in. I’d be curious to hear what you come up with.
