Set up a proportion: SA : SB = 4:9 or in fractional form: SA/SB = 4/9
Cross-multiply: 9SA = 4SB
Then SB = (9/4)SA
If SA = 12 yds, then SB = (9/4)12 = 27 yds and the perimeter of B = 4(27) = 108 yds (squares have 4 equal sides).
Check: If Square A has side of 12 yds, its perimeter is 12 x 4 = 48 yds. The respective perimeters will be in the same relationship as the sides. 108/48 is 9/4, as specified.
Could also do the proportion in terms of the perimeters of each square: 48/PB = 4/9, etc.
