Need to use order of operations rules to isolate the r from the rest of the formula.
I = Prt (the formula for simple interest, where is the principal invested, r is the interest rate and t is the no. of interest periods).
The opposite of multiplication is division, so you can divide both sides by Pt.
I/Pt = Prt/Pt which leaves r = I/Pt
