I think it's best to first identify the scope that we are using. As a society, we are typically looking at the straight white cisgender male perspective. With that understanding, we know that anything that deviates from this idea is going to be looked at as abnormal or not deserving of the same attention. Gender discrimination harms us as a society because it is a belief that men and women cannot do the same job. Though there may be differences biologically speaking it does not mean that a woman is incompetent or unable to do a job typically assigned to a man or vice versa.
We show up and join these efforts by advocating for things like equal pay and job consideration.
