How carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen from sugar molecules may combine with other elements to form amino acids and/or other large carbon-based molecules?

I understand that an enzyme is needed to break down the glucose in sugar into carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen but I can't find any source to tell me a name.
