Height is proportional to foot length. A person whose foot is 10 inches is 67 inches tall. A human like creature has a foot length of 40 inches.  Use a proportion to find the height of the creature.

As this is a proportion problem, we set two fractions equal to each other .....

 

10/67=40/x

 

And then proceed to cross multiply ......

 

10x=2680

 

In order to obtain the unknown value .......

 

x=268 inches

This needs to be set up as a ratio of foot length/height, then set equal to a second set of the same ratio.

 

10 = 40          [Now cross multiply]

67     x

 

10x=(40)(67)

10x=2680

x=268 inches tall.

 

You can check the ballpark by thinking if the numerator increases by multiplying by 4, so should the denominator.
