My teaching approach is grounded in the belief that young children learn best through clear, structured, and supportive instruction. With 26 years of experience teaching PreK through 3rd grade, I focus on building strong foundational skills in reading, writing, math, and language through developmentally appropriate, research-based methods. I use direct, explicit instruction—especially in areas like phonics and grammar—while also incorporating hands-on activities and meaningful practice. I have no problem meeting students where they are, whether that means starting at the beginning or helping them through specific struggles they’re facing in class, especially in math. My goal is always to build confidence and create a warm, encouraging environment where students feel supported and proud of their growth.
What is your way of teaching?
I teach on Zoom. I send a link with no time limit and we learn together using various interactive tools to make the learning more enjoyable. By using different tools, we get to learn the best ways which fit you. That will include, online exercises, video's, writing, speaking, games and more

I create lessons that are specifically for the student. I use many different ways to communicate so that I am understood. I am patient and try to find the best way for a specific student to learn. I do not use "canned" lessons. I work directly with your needs so that you can be successful. I want you to be successful so that is my goal and I am patient and kind in my approach. I am never critical of your efforts.

Speak, Read & Write English as Scholars!
I enunciate clearly and slowly. I use TPR (Total Physical Response) to show, demonstrate, and explain. I also ask questions to seek understanding. Depending on the student's level, I apply the 70:30 or 60:40 rule: I actively listen and encourage students to speak, share, and form sentences. I then carefully and respectfully correct and encourage the student to repeat after me. Then, I ask another question to encourage the student to keep the conversation going. When the student has a difficult time expressing one's thoughts, I listen to further understand, summarize what the student is trying to share, and help the student form sentences. For corrections, I type each sentence in the chat box so the student could review it later. Students and parents love this feature!
