Hi Tshering!
Digestion begins in the mouth. Mastication (chewing with teeth) grinds up the fish into small pieces and mixes it with saliva which has enzymes that break down the fish. The fish is then swallowed and it passes through the esophagus down into the stomach. In the stomach, the fish is churned by special folds in the stomach and mixed with gastric juices that work as powerful digestive enzymes. The fish will then move through the small intestine to the large intestine (the colon) to the rectum, and finally, it will be excreted out of the anus as fecal matter. All through the intestines, nutrients, water, and minerals are absorbed from the fish.
