The formula for exponential decay is....
y=a(1-b)x
y= final amount
a= original amount
b = decay factor
x= the number of intervals that have passed
To make our variables fit what your teacher is asking we will change the "y" to a "w" and the "x" to a "t"
From this, we can give numerical values to our variables....
W= unknown
a= 6mg
b= 0.88
t = 3 months
Now we can plug these values into our formula and solve....
W=a(1-b)t
W = 6mg (1-0.88)3
W = 6mg (0.12)3
W = 6mg (0.001728)
W = 0.01036 mg
Equation: W = 6mg (1-0.88)3
Weight: 0.01036 mg
