I would have to say D, as photosynthesis is the process by which a plant makes food for itself and carbon dioxide is needed for this but in the first part of photosynthesis (there are 2 parts and CO₂ is needed for the second part) oxygen is needed for respiration (to power the process) but that can initially come from the H₂O of the water.

The answer is D because, plants require water, carbon dioxide, sunlight, and room to grow in order to survive. If you were to take away any one of these elements it would be detrimental to the plant. A is not correct because plants can only perform aerobic respiration with oxygen/carbon dioxide present. B is not correct because, plants do not NEED oxygen for photosynthesis but O2 is a byproduct of this process. The answer is not C because it will not grow faster with just water being present, it needs several other elements.
