I offer three summer Zoom programs:
Book Club: We will meet in small, age-based groups to discuss a book. The books chosen will be developmentally appropriate, engaging, and well-written.
The conversations will be guided with 4 primary goals: to enhance students’ enjoyment; to deepen their understanding; to stretch their thinking; and to “read as a writer,” meaning to study what an author does well and consider how we can use these techniques and devices in our own writing.
Writing: Using warm-ups and writing prompts to unblock writers' imaginations and unlock creativity while developing descriptive, narrative, and expository writing skills. (ages 7-8, 9-10).
Puzzles and Games: Those who’ve had me as a classroom teacher know I love games and puzzles. They can be amazing tools for learning and for developing a variety of skills, including critical and analytical thinking, logic, and vocabulary building, as well as social, collaborative, and verbal skills. Not to mention, there will be plenty of laughter and silliness along the way!
Groups will meet online once a week. Each group will be limited to 5 students and I will need a minimum of 3 students to start a group. The rate for each student will be $20/session. I plan to group students as follows: grades 3/4, 5/6. However, if I get enough interest for a single grade group, I’d be happy to do that.
