Ploidy means the number of cells present in the nucleus of a cell.
In 2N chromosomes = 8 chromosomes. Twice the haploid number equals eight, the number for diploid or body cell
N=diploidy of gamete(haploid)
8 = diploidy of body cell (diploid)
Since you receive a haploid number of genetic material from each parent you carry a SET or PAIR of a line of similar haploid chromosomes which now become your diploid chromosome cell count.
How many SETS of homologs would make up your eight chromosomes, if you had eight chromosomes?
For example G = green shoes (homolog)pair
B= blue shoes (homolog)pair
Y= yellow shoes (homolog)pair
P= purple shoes (homolog)pair
Because you inherit a combined total 8 shoes (homologs) from both parents (Mrs. Right Foot and Mr. Left Foot) you have _______homolog pairs.
