Solve the system of equations using subtraction.

4x - 9y = 6

8x - 9y = 30

double the 1st equation to get

8x -18y = 12

subtract that from the 2nd equation to get

9y = 18

y = 18/9 = 2

y=2

4x = 6+9y = 6+18 = 24

x = 24/4 = 6

x=6, y = 2

(x,y) = (6,2)
