In order to solve for f(x)=0, you have to set the equation equal to zero and solve it.
f(x)=-2x2-x =0
Now factor the equation:
x(-2x-1) =0
So either x =0 or (-2x-1)=0
-2x-1=0
-2x=1
x=1/-2 = -1/2
So the solution is:
x =-1/2 , 0
